Release Time:2025-08-08  Browsing Volume:478

Jun. 8, 2025 - In the first half of 2025, the total exports of flake graphite from China were approximately 41,200 tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 62.85% compared with 25,300 tons in the same period last year. Among them, the exports in January increased the most by 402.22%, the exports growth rates from February to May were all between 70% and 100%, while the exports in June dropped by 27.53%. The export quantity from January to June experienced a process of first rising and then falling, with the exports keeping between 4,500 and 4,800 tons in January and February, rising to between 8,700 and 9,000 tons in March and May, and then dropping to 5,000-5,500 tons in June. The following chart shows the export quantity of each month and the year-on-year changes.

From January to June, the cumulative export value of flake graphite from China was 31.714 million US dollars, an increase of 29.26% compared with 24.5344 million US dollars in the same period of the previous year. Among them, the export value in January increased significantly by 263.88%. The growth rate of export value from February to May was around 30% to 40%, while that in June dropped by 21.39%. The following chart shows the export value of each month and the year-on-year changes.

In the first half of this year, both the export quantity and the export value of flake graphite from China achieved positive growth. However, due to the growth rate of export value being lower than that of export quantity, the average export price declined nearly over the first half year of 2025. The decline rate from January to May was basically between 20% and 30%. Only in June, as the decline rate of export quantity was greater than that of export value, the average export price thus increased by 8.48%. The following chart shows the average export prices of each month and the year-on-year changes:

Refwin survey shows that from January to June in 2025, China's export quanity of flake graphite increased significantly year-on-year, mainly due to the phased adjustment of export policies and the optimization of approval processes. Although flake graphite is a dual-use material and is subject to strict regulation, the Ministry of Commerce has dynamically adjusted its export approval strategy, ensuring national security while taking into account the demands of the global supply chain. In particular, the export quantity in January and February saw a huge increase of around 100-400%, reflecting the flexibility and initiative of China in the export of strategic resources under precise policy regulation. It is worth noting that major export destinations such as Japan, South Korea and Indonesia account for a relatively high proportion, highlighting the continuous reliance of the Asian industrial chain on China's graphite.
