Australia graphite market set for rapid growth driven by batteries and critical minerals strategy

Release Time:2025-12-17  Browsing Volume:127

Dec. 17, 2025 - According to relevant report, Australia’s graphite market reaches USD 438.76 million in 2024 and is projected to grow to USD 2,257.77 million by 2033, registering a CAGR of 17.8% during 2025–2033. The strong growth reflects Australia’s rising role in global critical mineral supply chains, particularly as demand for lithium-ion batteries accelerates.

Graphite is a key material for battery anodes as well as refractories, metallurgy, lubricants and foundry applications. With global electric vehicle production expanding rapidly and manufacturers seeking diversified and reliable supply sources, Australia is strengthening its position in graphite mining, processing and downstream refining.

Government support under Australia’s critical minerals strategy, combined with increased investment in exploration and processing technologies, is helping local producers move up the value chain. At the same time, advances in purification and refining are enabling the production of high-purity, anode-grade graphite suitable for battery applications.

Industry analysts note that rising global demand for graphite, driven largely by EV growth, is encouraging Australian producers to scale output and pursue long-term supply agreements. Supported by stable regulations and transparent mining practices, Australia is emerging as an important future supplier of graphite to global energy, battery and industrial markets.
